St. George’s British International School Munich is accredited by the Bavarian State Ministry of Education, Science and the Arts as a staatlich genehmigte Ergänzungsschule, and as such is recognised by the authorities as a school providing a non-Bavarian curriculum and offering international qualifications. Pupils at St. George’s School satisfy the legal duty to attend school (Schulpflicht) and have the possibility to transfer into the German system if they wish.

As an authorised International Baccalaureate (IB) World School additionally accredited by the Cambridge Assessment International Education and Pearson, St. George’s British International School Munich offers the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme, the International Baccalaureate (IB) Career-related Programme, Cambridge IGCSE and BTEC Diploma qualifications. 

Under the national policy in place since 1986 (Vereinbarung über die Anerkennung des International Baccalaureate Diploma), the IB Diploma is recognized as a qualification equivalent to the Abitur for entry to higher education in Germany (Hochschulzugangsberechtigung) and to universities around the world if official criteria are met.

The globally-recognised International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) is accredited as equivalent to the Mittlerer Schulabschluss (Mittlere Reife).

The BTEC (Business and Technology Education Council) Diploma is a further education qualification taken in England, Wales and Northern Ireland and is equivalent to A-Levels.

The school introduced the IB Career-related Programme (IBCP) in 2019, becoming one of very few schools in Germany to offer this qualification.
