Career Planning

SUB-MENU

At St. George’s career support is offered throughout students’ secondary school journey and is tailored to meet the needs or aspirations of each student. Students and their families can seek guidance from our qualified Careers Counsellor, including one-to-one meetings scheduled during Year 11, 12 and 13. We pride ourselves on offering students impartial, transparent, and trustworthy information to help them with their decision-making.

Our careers provision is embedded in KS3 and KS4 through the PSHE curriculum, empowering students to explore options that are a good fit. This involves building self-awareness, reflecting on skills and talents, as well as imagining and planning their futures. We deliver a comprehensive work experience programme, which supports students to apply and prepare for a 2-week in-person placement at the end of Year 11. This opportunity allows students to experience the world of work, explore their interests, and develop their professional skills.

We invite a wide range of guest speakers into the school to hear from representatives or specialists within their field to broaden horizons and support face-to-face conversations. In the past this has included: Germany’s Federal Employment Agency, Education USA, university representatives, career professionals, and St. George’s Alumni. Since 2022, we have hosted an annual International University Fair, attended by institutions from Europe, the UK, Canada and the USA. Furthermore, we signpost local events and open days, which allow our students to develop knowledge of their options.

Our students follow pathways all over the globe, including study destinations such as Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Italy, Singapore, Canada, and the USA.

Applying to university can be both an exciting and frightening experience. We aim to support our students through this important period of time in order to ensure that they feel prepared as they continue on their chosen path beyond St. George’s.

We have extensive experience with university entrance procedures across the world, and will support all students in achieving their goals, wherever this may take them.
