Upper School Curriculum IGCSE

SUB-MENU

Our Upper School Department encompasses the age range 14-16, and the year groups 10 and 11.

All pupils in Upper School follow an academically diverse and challenging curriculum, which fosters their intellectual curiosity in a stimulating and rewarding environment.

Upon entering Upper School, pupils embark on a two-year course, preparing for internationally recognised International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) qualifications. These are international equivalents of the standard examinations taken by sixteen year olds in English schools. Success in these examinations can be accredited as the Mittlere Reife in Germany, and allows access to higher level study.

At this level, pupils can begin to tailor their curriculum to their aspirations and interests. We carefully design our IGCSE programme to ensure that pupils develop both depth in their understanding as well as breadth in their skills. All pupils follow core courses in English, German, Mathematics and Science. Furthermore, each pupil should chose at least one Social Science option. Pupils then select two further options from a range of subjects offered, to complement their core study. In addition, all pupils take part in Physical Education lessons to emphasise the importance of health and physical fitness.
